Marshall Appointed to the Supreme Court

September 1 - Washington, DC - Thurgood Marshall, a graduate of Howard Law school, a member of the NAACP legal team and one of the lawyers who argued the cases that led to the 1954 Brown v. Board United States Supreme Court (USSC) decision, was sworn in as the first Black associate justice of the Supreme Court.
