October - Oakland, CA - Bobby Seale and Huey Newton formed the Black Panther Party. Their primary goals included receiving decent housing and a good educational system for African Americans; an exemption of Blacks serving in the armed forces; the release of all Black prisoners; restitution for slave labor; and an end to police brutality. The party soon branched out to major cities throughout the country. |
